Britney Spears has addressed why she keeps deacitvating her Instagram to reappear a short time later.

According to the Toxic singer, 41, the last few times have been an accident on her part.

In a since-deleted post, she explained: “I know my Instagram has been down a few times but honestly I did the last two times myself !!! Oops … I accidentally pressed the wrong button … d*** that stupid button.”

It comes amid fan speculation that the pop star - who was released from a 13-year conservatorship last year - is not the one posting on her account.

Among her recent posts which have raised eyebrows, include words of praise for family members who she has recently feuded with, such as her sister Jamie Lynn Spears and her sons Sean and Jayden Federline.

On her birthday earlier this month, she shared two snaps of her younger sibling along with the caption: “It’s my b-day, but you’re my heart, so I’m thinking about you.

“Congratulations on being so brave, inspiring, and showing guts and glory in your show… My baby sister !!! I love you !!!”

She also waxed lyrical about her teenage sons with whom she has a complicated relationship.

Just a few months ago, Spears declared that her boys - whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline - had failed to give her “unconditional love and support” after Jayden publicly spoke out about his “emotional trauma” and accused his mother of not “showing enough” love to him and his brother.

In an apparent u-turn, Spears, wrote on Instagram: “To both of my boys … I love you … I would die for you !!! God speed my precious hearts !!! I would give anything just to touch your face !!! I send my love … Mamasita.”

But what really threw fans was that she first shared the caption alongside two pictures of Preseton, before sharing the exact same words beside a snap of Jayden.

This led some followers to suggest that her account was being managed by someone else who had accidentally failed to tell the two boys apart.

Her husband, Sam Asghari, tried to debunk the theories on Friday by replying to fans concerned by her absence from social media.

“Social media can be traumatizing. Sometimes it’s good to take a break,” he said in a series of Insta Story snaps. “She has her voice and is a free woman.”

Explaining why he hasn’t shared any recent pictures of his wife, the 28-year-old Iranian fitness model, who tied the knot with Spears earlier this year, added: “I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times...

“Out of respect for her privacy, I don’t post her 247. I ask for permission if I ever do.”
