Calvin Harris named world’s top-earning DJ for third consecutive year

Calvin Harris has been named the world’s top-earning DJ for the third consecutive year.

The Scottish musician, 32, has topped Forbes’ 2016 Electronic Cash Kings list again after earning an impressive $63 million in the last year.

Harris, who split from girlfriend Taylor Swift in May, is down three million on last year, when he made $66 million.

Leading the Top 10 by a significant amount, Harris’ nearest contender is Dutch DJ Tiesto, who is second on the list with an estimated $38 million.

David Guetta is third; having made $28 million in the last year, while Zedd made $24 million and Steve Aoki made $23.5 million.

Other star DJs in the Top 10 include Diplo, Skrillex and Kaskade, who made between $19 and $23 million.

According to Forbes, Harris earned a lot of his money thanks to his lucrative residencies in Las Vegas, where he reportedly made more than $400,000 per appearance.

Last year the DJ signed a three-year partnership with Hakkasan to continue his residences in the US city.

The list isn’t based on DJ fees alone, but also includes earnings from endorsement deals, merchandise, recorded music and outside business ventures.

Harris has recently denied reports that he is dating singer Tinashe following his split from Swift, telling E! that he is “definitely still single”.
