She gave nothing away to reporters.

Other guests at the premiere included Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. They provide the voices for the children's movie that has already beaten James Bond to number one at the US box office.

It follows the story of Mumble the penguin, voiced by Wood, who has a talent for tapdancing but is ostracised because he cannot sing.

Kidman is the voice of Mumble's mother Norma Jean, while Murphy plays his best friend, Gloria.

Williams burst into a rendition of My Way inside the cinema, joking that he was now able to identify with "my small, fierce inner penguin."
