Cara Delevingne is the latest in a list of celebrities to speak out against shamed Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

In a lengthy Instagram statement, the 25-year-old actress and model, described how Weinstein, who is accused of sexually harassing stars including Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, invited her to his hotel room where he asked her to kiss another woman.

Delevingne said following a meeting in a restaurant hotel with the producer he urged her to accompany him to his room.

Bravely detailing her discomfort, the star said she initially “felt safe” after meeting another woman in his suite before it emerged Weinstein wanted to see the pair kiss.

She wrote: “At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn't want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction.”

She added that she dodged the situation by “bursting into song” before alleging that Weinstein tried to “kiss her on the lips as she left”.

The actress, who has starred in Weinstein Company productions Paper Towns and Tulip Fever, said she still got the part in the film and insisted she had felt guilty ever since.

The statement went on: “Since then I felt awful that I did the movie. I felt like I didn't deserve the part. I was so hesitant about speaking out....I didn't want to hurt his family. I felt guilty as if I did something wrong. I was also terrified that this sort of thing had happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear.”

She also noted how in the early stages of her acting career, Weinstein had called Delevingne “asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media” two years before the encounter.

“It was a very odd and uncomfortable call....I answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood,” she went on.

The model shared the statement alongside an image featuring the quote: “Don’t be ashamed of your story, it will inspire others.”

It came just hours after BAFTA suspended Weinstein’s membership over the claims.

While Weinstein has admitted to “causing a lot of pain” with his behaviour, his spokesperson said that "any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied”.
