Rapper 50 Cent has spoken out to apologise after accusing an airport cleaner of being ‘high’.

The musician - real name Curtis Jackson III - was criticised after posting a video mocking 19-year-old Andrew Farrell at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on Tuesday.

In a statement released to the Evening Standard Online, the rapper said: “While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man.

“It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologized personally to him and his family.”

In the video, which has since been deleted from the star’s account, he can be seen taunting the janitor and accusing him of being on drugs.

In the clip, 50 Cent can be seen following the man and saying: “This new generation is crazy. They’re crazy.

“Look at him. What kind of s*** you think he took before he got to work today?

“He’s as high as a mother f***** right here in the airport. Pupils dilated and everything.”

After the video went viral, Farrell’s father Andrew came forward to defend his son.

“It’s just sickening, very hard to watch,” he told US television channel WLWT5. “To put this out there saying my son is on drugs or whatever, that is part of his social anxiety.

“He’s not wanting to talk, he’s not wanting to communicate, he’s walking on and he’s doing his job.”
