Bafta-winning star of stage and screen David Tennant has confessed to using a rather undignified method of fox control at his London home.
The 41-year-old Scottish actor says he regularly relieves himself around his garden in Chiswick after the pests kept digging up the flower beds.
He said: “Urban foxes in London are a common problem and cause a lot of grief, the noise they make and the mess they make of your garden. I have been stealing out under cover of night and putting some gentleman’s urine in the back garden. There was one bit particularly where they kept digging up every night and I got told I should wee on it with a bit of male pheromone… I wait until it’s dark. I don’t want to offend anyone’s eyeballs.
“It does work. The thing is that you have to remember to do it every single night which I haven’t done. I did it for about a week and it definitely worked but you have to be quite consistent.”
The former Doctor Who star was speaking as he donned a wig to play Mary in a tongue-in-cheek nativity play staged live on air by the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio.
The performance also featured Arsenal legend Ian Wright who was forced to wear a dinosaur costume “due to budgetary” constraints.
Newton Faulkner provided the soundtrack while O’Connell played Joseph.
