Adele has made a habit of inviting fans on stage during her gigs – but she wasn't expecting one unlikely guest while performing in Mexico.

The singer, 28, came under attack from a bat as she wrapped up her song Don't You Remember at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.

After spotting the webbed mammal flying around the crowd she threw her hands in the air and ran about the stage.

"There’s a bat," she screamed. "Oh my God there’s a f****** bat. Welcome to Mexico. I’m happy to be here – but a f****** bat? Jesus Christ.”

The gig marked the singer's penultimate performance on her current world tour which kicked off in Belfast in February.

But she'll be getting back on the road early next year to visit Australia for the first time.

The Rolling in the Deep singer - who was recently named the richest celebrity under 30 - made the announcement this week and told fans that after a decade "in the business" she was heading Down Under.

Quoting her hit single, Hello, she wrote: “G’Day it’s me... I was wondering if after 10 years in the game you’d finally like to meet me in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide. Yep! I am coming Down Under.

“In the round, outdoors and upgrading myself to stadiums to make sure I get to see as many of you as possible. I can't wait.”
