Mark Hamill has paid tribute to the late Carrie Fisher after discovering a painting in a London hotel that looks just like Princess Leia.

The actor, best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the sci-fi franchise, shared a snap of the painting with his social media followers on Tuesday.

Taking to Twitter to share his excitement, he posed in the snap pointing out the Princess Leia figure.

He captioned the tweet: “Sooooo..... Look who I found looking over my shoulder in a painting on the wall of my London hotel room.

“Coincidence? I DON'T THINK SO! #AlwaysWithMe.”

Fans flocked to support the actor for his tribute to Fisher.

One fan wrote: “Strange are the ways of the Force. Always with you she is.”

Another wrote: “Guardian Angel.”

Meanwhile one posted: “Carrie will be with you always... No one is ever really gone...& No this was not a coincidence by any means!”

This comes after 66-year-old Hamill praised people for using Princess Leia signs during the Women’s March in January, saying that the late Star Wars actress would be “proud”.

Fisher’s iconic character appeared to have inspired slogans and outfits for the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up campaign.

American actor Hamill declared that his co-star would have been “so proud” of the display at the march.

Posting an array of Princess Leia images he tweeted: “Carrie would be SO proud! Resist. Register. VOTE! #WomensMarch2018 #MyReSIStanceSISters.”
