Amanda Holden faces Twitter backlash for being 'effectively topless' on Britain’s Got Talent

Amanda Holden faced criticism on Twitter for wearing a dramatically low-cut dress for the live semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent.

The judge, 46, became one of the biggest talking points of Thursday night’s show when she arrived on stage in the Julian Macdonald gown, with some viewers praising her outfit choice and others branding it “inappropriate.”

“What the hell is Amanda wearing on BGT, totally NOT suitable #BGT #BritainsGotTalent,” one viewer wrote on Twitter.

“#BritainsGotTalent Half term hols with kids watching- sort yourself out Amanda Holden - not good!” posted another.

One viewer commented that Holden was “effectively topless” while another remarked that she wold be “down to her undies” by the final.

Some people praised the star’s bold outfit choice, with one person writing: “Love how everyone is going metal over Amanda's dress... it's a bit of cleavage, grow up. Is her body. Not yours #BritainsGotTalent.”

Fellow judge David Walliams even felt the need to comment after female Welsh choir Angelicus Celtis were criticised for their “middle-of-the-road look”.

“You're really classy, none of you are wearing a really inappropriate low-cut top,” he said.

Dance group Mersey Girls and elderly singing duo The Pensionalities were the two acts to receive the most votes on Thursday night and will compete in Saturday’s live final.
