Amir Khan has been accused of transphobia after referring to Caitlyn Jenner as “Bruce.”

The professional boxer was criticised after he referred to the 68-year-old transgender reality star as “Bruce Jenner” in a Snapchat picture after meeting the TV personality at the ESPYs.

Khan attended the event in Los Angeles with wife Faryal Makhdoom where he met Jenner, who transitioned and legally changed her name two years ago.

Dressed in a white tuxedo jacket and black bow tie, he took the opportunity to pose with Jenner for a snap which he shared on Snapchat.

However, Khan left social media users raging after he uploaded it with the caption: “Bruce Jenner.”

One Twitter user commented: “Amir Khan is not funny for calling Caitlin Jenner Bruce he demonstrates what a transphobic **** he is.”

Another said: “He is transphobic. Calling a Trans person by their old name and mis-gendering them is literally transphobic.” [sic]

A third posted: “Still dying at the fact that amir khan called Caitlyn Jenner BRUCE.”

The news comes after the 31-year-old was reportedly found on celebrity dating app Raya.

The former I’m A Celebrity contestant appeared to advertise his availability on the profile, although its authenticity is yet to be verified.

The “private membership-based community” app features an exclusive reel of celebrities and high-profile singles.

Earlier this year the former Olympic boxer came under fire after allegations that he had an affair with beautician Sophia Hammani after they supposedly met at a club in London.

Standard Online has contact representatives of Khan for comment.
