Amy Schumer shocks bartenders with $1000 tip for $77 bill
Amy Schumer shocked bartenders after she left them a generous $1000 (£694) tip.
Schumer, 34, added the hefty sum to a $77 (£53) bar bill after enjoying a night at hit Broadway show, Hamilton.
A picture of the receipt was shared on Instagram by bartender Madeline DeJohn who posted: “And then @amyschumer comes into your work and does something amazing #hamilton #amyschumer.”
Speaking about the tip, DeJohn later told The New York Daily News: “I was very touched, it was just something so generous and so kind that you don’t see every day.”
Tweeting after the night, Schumer posted: “Lots of love to my fellow bartenders and artists. I'm grateful to them and the cast and crew for another great night.”
The New York Daily News reported that the $1,000 tip was split up among the six members of staff who were working the bar and are aspiring actors.
It is not the first time the comedienne has tipped generously. She reportedly left an $80 tip on a $40 bill the last time she watched the show.
Schumer is no stranger to waiting tables having worked as a waitress in New York while auditioning for her earliest gigs.
