Loose Women star Andrea McLean has revealed she is "heartbroken" after the breakdown of her second marriage.

The presenter, 42, married builder Steve Toms in August 2009, but said the relationship came to an end over Christmas.

She told the Daily Mirror: "Steve and I had grown apart and we both knew it. We'd tried so many times to make it work but it was hopeless."

McLean is mother to 10-year-old Finlay, from her first marriage, and Amy, five, from her second.
The former GMTV weather girl told the newspaper: "We held it together over Christmas for the kids but then on Boxing Day I took them to stay with my parents - and that was the end."

McLean said of the split: "All I've ever wanted to be is one half of a couple. But now that's all gone. I'm heartbroken."

The presenter married childhood sweetheart Nick Green in 2000 but they divorced after she had an affair in 2003 with Toms.

In her interview, McLean admitted: "I hated myself for a long time after that."
