Yes, it's as weird as it sounds. Comic Harry Hill claims to have "updated" the classic pencil-sketch animated video in a madcap new version including a squabble over a sausage, helped by the Hairy Bikers (who else?).

The king of surreal humour will replace A-ha hunk Morten Harket in the BBC Children In Need spoof, with X Factor mentor Sinitta taking the role of the love interest (played in the multi award-winning original by Harket's then-girlfriend Bunty Bailey).

Also in the revamp of the iconic Eighties video, which featured a pretty blonde girl in a diner being sucked into a comic book fantasy drama, are guest spots for newsreader Sophie Raworth, The Apprentice's Nick Hewer and Richard Madeley.

Hill - soon to star in his own movie - devised the sketch which will be screened during the Children In Need appeal show on November 15.

Hairy Biker Dave Myers and sidekick Simon King will recreate the roles of the motorcycle thugs who end up fighting with Hill over the giant banger.

Hill said: "Pudsey called me and told me his favourite 80s pop video was A-ha's Take On Me. Suddenly an idea popped into my head - let's recreate it.

"Who better to get involved than 80s superstar Sinitta, and the Hairy Bikers? We've changed the plot only slightly to bring it bang up to date - it now involves a fight over a giant sausage. If that's not entertainment I don't know what is - and to help raise money for BBC Children in Need. Sorted."

Sinitta said: "I am thrilled and honoured to be able to support Children In Need with the barmiest gentleman in comedy, Mr Harry Hill. His crazy artistic madness is just my thing and I am dying to work with him again."
