BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern served up a hilarious clap back to reports that she is pregnant.

McGovern, 35, was met with a string of congratulatory messages after she wrapped up her segment on the collapse of construction company, Carillion, on Tuesday.

One user tweeted “congratulations” while another posted: “I thought you were with child too”.

Shutting down the speculation, McGovern tweeted: “For those who are congratulating me on my ‘pregnancy’. I am not ‘with child’, I am ‘with pot belly’.”

The broadcaster was praised for her “awesome response” while others told her to “ignore the haters”.

On fan tweeted: “Take no notice Steph you always look fab.”

Another wrote: “You are not alone, I get this most months, normally of an afternoon, not long after lunch X.”

A third posted: “OMG, what is WRONG with people?! How rude.”

Where is piers looking?

McGovern’s clap back came as rival broadcaster Piers Morgan was forced to defend himself against reports that he had stolen a cheeky peek at Susanna Reid’s cleavage.

The Good Morning Britain presenter read out an accusatory tweet from The Sun before insisting that he “fully respects” his co-workers and was simply attempting to look at Reid’s notes.

He said: “I do want to take issue with The Sun because they’re very quick off the mark with these kind of things and they repeatedly accuse me of this.

“I am not looking at your cleavage. Here’s the thing, watch. Susanna has notes here, and I take a sneaky peek at Susanna’s notes it looks incriminating. You see? I have full respect for my co-workers.”
