The comedian, 56, is currently recovering in hospital after surgery on Tuesday and is reportedly surrounded by friends and family.

Mortimer was scheduled to kick off his 25th anniversary tour with Vic Reeves in Glasgow in just two weeks but has been forced to pull out.

A spokesperson for the star said: “Bob would like to thank his Consultant and all the nursing staff at the hospital for looking after him so well.
