Piers Morgan faced a backlash after he branded Britain’s Got Talent finalists Boogie Storm a “talentless waste of space”.

Morgan, 51, proved he is not a fan of Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act and went as far as to label them “stupid” after they failed to respond to his questions on Good Morning Britain.

Speaking to the dancing Stormtroopers he said: “Right you lot, Simon Cowell says you are the best act he’d ever seen. Let me give you a reality check from a former judge. You are without a doubt the most talentless waste of space I’ve ever seen in the history of the show.”

The group responded with a thumbs up gesture leading Morgan to brand them “completely stupid”.

In a final attempt to get them talking, he asked: “Do you actually have any talent whatsoever?”

Jennifer Ellison – who runs the studio where the group formed – slammed Morgan and highlighted the battles some of them have overcome.

She wrote: "Just for the record my dancers Boogiestorm are not talentless, they are WORLD CHAMPION DANCERS who have just been given the accolade of representing their country in the Dance World Cup, being voted best group to represent team England."

She continued: "The Stormtrooper who flips on stage, broke his back a few years ago, another at 21 years of age suffers from Cystic Fribrosis which is an inspiration and achievement in itself to be able to not only be a world champion, but dance in suits which are virtually impossible to walk in!! (sic)"

Cleary unmoved, Morgan simply replied: “They're ludicrous Jennifer, a bit like you.”

Some viewers were left disappointed with the decision to put the dance troupe through to the final over 14-year-old ballet enthusiast Jack Higgins.

Amanda Holden was branded a "hypocrite" for choosing to send Higgins home.

Britain's Got Talent is on ITV tonight at 7:30pm.
