Actor Nicholas Brendon has been arrested for the fourth time this year, following an alleged ‘domestic dispute’ with his girlfriend.

The star, 44, who is best known for his role in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, was reportedly taken into police custody on Wednesday in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Investigations lieutenant Bob Gillson told US Weekly: “Last night after 11 p.m we responded to a call to a local hotel on the south end of town.

“We got there [and] found a 33-year-old female in the room by herself …She had come down to give [Brendon] some of his personal property he was looking for.

“When she gets there she was going to leave, [but] he didn’t want her to leave, so he forcibly took her car keys from her.”

He added: “In New York we’ve got a pro-domestic violence charge for criminal mischief if you damage someone’s phone to prevent them from calling 911.”

The police officer went on to allege that Brendon “grabbed [his girlfriend] by the throat and choked her” also claiming that” alcohol was involved” in the incident.

The star is thought to have been released from custody on Thursday after posting bail.

Brendon has been arrested on three other occasions this year, most recently for public intoxication back in May.

In February and March he was arrested for causing damage to hotel rooms while under the influence of alcohol.

The actor has been open about his battle with alcohol abuse and depression and checked himself into rehab back in June.

He appeared on Dr Phil back in August but stormed out halfway through the interview.

Evening Standard Online has contacted Brendon's reps for comment.
