Caitlyn Jenner could face manslaughter charge for fatal Malibu car crash

Reality star Caitlyn Jenner could face a manslaughter charge following her Malibu car accident which killed one driver.

Jenner, 65, was behind the wheel of her SUV on the Pacific Coast Highway when she rear ended Kim Howe’s Lexus. The 69-year-old was killed in the multi-vehicle crash which also left seven people injured.

Sheriff's officials investigating the crash plan to hand over the case results to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's next week, recommending prosecutors file a vehicular manslaughter charge against Jenner for her role.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida said investigators found that Jenner was driving "unsafe for the prevailing road conditions" because her SUV rear-ended a Lexus, pushing it into oncoming traffic.

A misdemeanor manslaughter charge usually carries a one-year jail sentence.

Jenner – who was known as Bruce at the time of the crash in February – released a statement after the incident.

"My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident," he said. "It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time.

“I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."
