Daniel Radcliffe looks set to play the creator of Grand Theft Auto in a new film for the BBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The former Harry Potter star will reportedly play Sam Houser, the British-born co-founder of software developer Rockstar Games, in the true-life account of Houser’s fight with Miami lawyer Jack Thompson who wanted to ban violence in video games.

The BBC film – which is based on the book by David Kushner titled Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto – has been written by James Wood and is being produced by Jim Spencer with filming expected to start later this month.

The new film is part of BBC's Make it Digital initiative which aims to encourage youngsters to get creative with coding, programming and digital technology.

Radcliffe recently wrapped up the sequel to Lionsgate’s Now You See Me and is is also set to appear in Victor Frankenstein.
