David Beckham proved he doesn’t hold grudges after he pulled Deadpool in for a hug after the Marvel hero made a joke at his expense.

In a promo for the upcoming sequel, Beckham is seen watching a scene from the first film in which Deadpool compares his voice to someone who has inhaled helium.

Aware that he may have offended the former footballer, Ryan Reynolds – who plays the iconic character – surprises Beckham with an over the top apology.

“I am so sorry,” he says as he knocks on the front door to offer milk and biscuits.

After Beckham slams the door in his face he tries again with a bunch of helium balloons. In a high pitched voice he jokes: “Too soon? Yes, too soon.”

When a Mariachi band fails to win over the sportsman he offers up football tickets, to which Beckham says: “Tickets for the cup? I can’t stay mad at you.”

Deadpool brings the former England Captain in for a “healing hug” saying: “Here we go. Finally that feels so good. You smell amazing like cinnamon and man hug. Let’s never let go.”

Beckham then asks Deadpool what he is sorry for, before telling the superhero that he thought he was apologising for his back catalogue of films including Green Lantern, R.I.P.D, Self/less, Blade Trinity and Boltneck.

Reynolds shared the promo video on Twitter alongside the caption: “Little known fact: Canadians are born with a black belt in apology. #deadpool2.”

Beckham later shared a picture of himself and his children Romeo, Cruz and Harper, six, posing with Reynolds’ alter ego.

Proving she is a daddy's girl, Harper appeared to look out for David by pretend punching him in the face.

The clip comes days after Reynolds donned a pair of heels to perform interpretive dance with Celine Dion on stage.
