David Tennant has revealed he dreams of interviewing screenwriter Aaron Sorkin on his podcast.

The Doctor Who actor launched “David Tennant Does a Podcast with…” in January, and has since released interviews with stars including Jennifer Garner, Oscar winning Broadchurch co-star Olivia Colman, Sir Ian McKellen and Jodie Whittaker, one of his successors in Doctor Who.

The 48-year-old even aired a personal interview with former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

But the guest he would most like to invite for a chat is The Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. Tennant, who has only brushed shoulders The West Wing Creator “passing in a corridor once”, told the Standard: “I’m obsessed with Sorkin, I’d love to have him.”

The actor believes his podcast “is different because I’m not a journalist”, and admitted he does not air segments his friends are uncomfortable with.

Michael Sheen, who appeared on the podcast, explained: “Having been a guest, you definitely find yourself talking about things you might not normally have done. But underneath that you think, it’s David, he’s not going to keep that in if I ask.”

Both actors will reappear on screens tomorrow in new Amazon Prime Video fantasy show Good Omens. Based on the Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman novel, its all-star cast includes Jon Hamm and Miranda Richardson.

Tennant plays a “quite big hearted” demon who realises he loves living on Earth and pairs up with Sheen’s fussy Angel to prevent Armageddon.

He said: “I’ve played quite a lot of psychopaths in recent years, so I actually think Crawley [the demon] felt rather cuddly.”
