Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton today issued an urgent appeal after her dog went missing while on its daily walk in north London.

The 37-year-old singer used Twitter and her Heart FM breakfast programme to plead for help in finding her six-year-old chocolate brown Labrador Phoebe after she ran off yesterday in the 70-hectare Monken Hadley Common between Barnet and Cockfosters yesterday afternoon.

Speaking on the breakfast show this morning she said: “I’m desperate and so upset and worried sick.

“She’s a big softie and I know she will be so scared. My two gorgeous dogs were on a walk yesterday and Phoebe disappeared.

“We were out there for hours until late last night looking for her and she still hasn’t come back. Please help.”

Bunton also posted a message on Twitter to her 880,000 followers yesterday afternoon saying: “My gorgeous brown Labrador went missing on daily walk, she will be so scared, please look out around east Barnet, Hadley Wood, Trent Park.”

Bandmate Melanie Chisholm also posted the appeal on her own Twitter feed while followers offered advice and reassurance that the dog would be found.

Bunton has had Phoebe since she was a puppy. The dog was a gift from Jones in 2007 when Bunton was pregnant with her first son and she said at the time: “We thought now would be a good time to get a dog - I guess it’s a good trial run for the baby.”

Phoebe is named after the character in the US sitcom Friends and Bunton says she has been microchipped, making it easy for her to be identified if she is found and taken to a vet.
