Dick Van Dyke saw in his 90s with a flash mob and sing-a-long.

The iconic actor was joined by a group of fans at The Grove in LA, many of whom were dressed as chimney sweeps in honour of his Mary Poppins character Bert.

Looking on from a balcony, Van Dyke saw the crowd perform a number of synchronised routines from the 1964 film to songs including Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

The star, who turns 90 this Sunday, shouted down to the crowd, saying: “Oh my God, you’re great.”

He then went down to join the group of fans to lead them in a rendition of Let’s Go Fly a Kite.

Van Dyke, who is also known for roles in Diagnosis: Murder and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang admitted: “I had to join in.”

He later wrote on Twitter: “I am very grateful that at 90 years old, I can still go out and play.”

In an recent interview with CNN, the actor claimed that the secret to staying young is to have as much fun as possible.

“Don't do anything that isn't fun. I may have reached that point in life where I don't have to do anything that isn't fun,” he said.
