Eamonn Holmes takes a tumble as he hands out roses on Loose Women

Eamonn Holmes tried to spread the love on Loose Women – but ended up taking an embarrassing tumble.

Holmes, 57, surprised the panellists with roses to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday’s show.

He walked onto the set holding a red rose in his mouth as he greeted Coleen Nolan, Anne Diamond, Linda Robson and Janet Street Porter with a kiss.

“Everybody should have love in their life today,” he said before joking that he had bought the roses from “the petrol station around the corner”.

But as he turned to leave he tripped and nearly fell off the stage.

Robson reached out to grab him as he shouted: “My hip! My hip has gone.”

Holmes clutched his hip as he made a swift exit from the studio.

It came hours after he opened This Morning by giving his wife and co-host Ruth Langsford a kiss.

Langsford said she woke up to find bouquet of red roses and a gift bag with “with love” written on the front.

“This was lovely,” she said. “I came down the stairs this morning and I thought Eamonn was still in bed and I thought we’ll probably do Valentine’s later and then I found this on my hall table.”
