Ed Sheeran waves goodbye to Wembley Stadium with first major acting role in friend's TV show
Singer Ed Sheeran this weekend sold out three nights at Wembley Stadium – but he’s already planning his next career move.
The Thinking Out Loud singer is set to embark on his first major acting role in a “dark” and “gruesome” TV show penned by one of his close friends.
Speaking about his new venture to Global’s Kevin Hughes, Sheeran said: “It’s not my show it’s my friends show so I don’t know how much he’s told the press. I don’t know how much I’m in it either but it’s definitely a few episodes – and I don’t get killed off so that’s good.”
He continued: “I’ve always wanted to act in things.
“I feel like people would expect me to be in a rom-com or something, so I wanted to be in something people don’t expect me to.”
Sheeran last week described the show during an interview with The Sun.
“I have an acting job coming out after July,” he said. “I can’t say too much about it because the pilot just got picked up, which is good, but it’s a TV show.
“It’s a medieval TV show and it’s really, really dark,” he added. “It’s gruesome and it’s going to be fine because my friend wrote it.”
Sheeran – who was joined on stage by Sir Elton John during his three night residency at Wembley Stadium – previously appeared in Australian soap Home and Away.
He made a cameo appearance alongside Emily Symons, who plays Marilyn Chambers in the Channel 5 soap, on Palm Beach in Sydney earlier this year.
