Evening Standard British Film Awards: the stars are out for glittering Claridge's ceremony

Kate Beckinsale, Vanessa Kirby and Suki Waterhouse will be among the big name stars at tonight’s Evening Standard British Film Awards.

The ceremony - presented by comedian and director Richard Ayoade – will take place at London's prestigious Claridge's hotel.

The crème de la crème of the British acting world will come together for the annual celebration including Luke Treadaway, Florence Pugh, Tuppence Middleton and Hugh Grant.

Hollywood actor Danny Huston will fly in from across the pond to present the New West End Company Award for Best Actress while Strictly Come Dancing underdog Ed Balls will present the Peter Sellers Award for Comedy.

Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer will be on hand for the best supporting actor gong while singer and activist Sir Bob Geldof will award the best documentary winner.

Emily Blunt is in the running for the New West End Company Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Girl On The Train – but she will have to see off stiff competition from Beckinsale, (Love & Friendship), Dame Helen Mirren (Eye In The Sky) and Tilda Swinton (A Bigger Splash).

Dev Patel (Lion), Grant (Florence Foster Jenkins, Russell Tovey (The Pass) and comedian Dave Johns (I, Daniel Blake) will battle it out for the coveted Best Actor title.
