American rapper Lil’ Wayne says he has “no connection” to the Black Lives Matter movement.

The rapper, known as Weezy, was quizzed on his thoughts about the movement on ABC’s Nightline.

The Lollipop singer responded by saying it has “nothing to do with him.”

He went on to add that he didn’t like the idea of giving fatal shootings of black people by police a “catchy name”.

Speaking directly to the black, female presenter, he said: “I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me.

“If you do, you crazy as s***. Not the camera, you."

The hip hop star went on to say that he “is a young, rich, black motherf*****”.

He added: “If that don’t show that American understand black motherf****** matter these days, I don’t know what it is.”

Black Lives Matter was set up following the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by a neighbourhood watch volunteer in 2012.
