Ruby Tandoh has slammed chefs including Nigella Lawson and Tom Kerridge in a twitter takedown of the “dull” and “nearly exclusively white” food industry.

The former Great British Bake Off star, who came runner-up in 2013, hit out at “horsey-maned rich girls” and “pompous 'real food' guys” in a string of tweets on Tuesday night.

Describing the industry as “boring”, Tandoh called for a shake-up of the food world and an increase in diversity.

“Horsey-maned rich girls and pompous 'real food' guys, all of them white, make up nearly all of the food world and i am so BORED of it,” the 25-year-old posted.

She went on to say that it had all started with “cookbooks written by rich women who were hobbyist cooks but never once made the family dinner.”

“And then it continued through generations of food writers, nearly exclusively white, and always rich,” Tandoh continued.

“Then nigella (god bless her soul) unwittingly bolstered the foundations for this aspirational, just-look-how-rich-i-am, kind of cooking.”

The baker then described Anthony Bourdain as a “p****” and said that Kerridge “sells this hokey f****** ‘happy diet.’”

Tandoh has been vocal in her criticism of the food industry on social media in recent years, proving that she’s unafraid to call out high profile chefs.

She recently dubbed Kerridge’s new weight-loss cook book Dopamine Duet “total b*******.”
