George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have officially announced their intention to marry.

According to reports, the couple went to the Chelsea Registry Office over two weeks ago to announce their intention to marry and to get their wedding banns posted.

George, 53 and Amal, 36, each paid £35 for the document, before meeting the registrar to sign it.

The document gives the full names of both parties. ‘George Timothy Clooney’ put his occupation down as ‘actor and director’, while Amal put down barrister as hers.

Legally, a couple has to post a notice of their intention to marry publicly for 16 days before they are allowed to wed.

George and Amal are to marry in Italy, at George’s multi-million pound home in Lake Como.

Clooney has even gone as far as to meet with the town’s mayor, to bring forth laws that will protect the privacy of his and Amal’s big day.

At the time, Laglio mayor Roberto Pozzi said: “We have to guarantee privacy and security for George Clooney and his guests.”
