Laura Tobin took advantage of April Fools’ Day to prank viewers – and her Good Morning Britain co-stars.

Tobin, 34, told viewers during her weather update that ‘scientists’ were planning on scrapping winter and breaking the year into three seasons: spring, summer and autumn.

A false report was published on the show’s website and Tobin tweeted: "Interesting new weather proposal by scientists to adopt a 3 season year. Join me in 2 minutes @gmb to find out more."

Keeping a straight face, Tobin explained the new system saying: "It's the changes in the weather patterns around the world that triggered scientists to make these new proposals.

"We just don't get the cold snowy winters that we used to. It makes much more sense and many more people agree that it should be the new set up."

But embarrassed viewers were put out of their misery after klaxons sounded and the words “April Fool” were displayed.

“Of course, it is an April Fools," Tobin said. "We are going to be keeping our four seasons."

Kate Garraway was fooled, saying: “It had me going.”

Viewers toook to Twitter to admit they had fallen for the joke with one writing: “@Lauratobin1 @benshephard @kategarraway @GMB first time I've been 'had' by an April Fool joke. I feel so dumb! You're all very naughty!”

Tobin's prank comes weeks after she fooled her co-stars into thinking she had ripped a rare £150,000 superhero poster.

Richard Arnold threw his hand over his mouth in shock while news reporter Charlotte Hawkins shrieked and said: “Please tell me this is a joke.”
