Gordon Ramsay has promised A-level students free pizza from his restaurant chain on results day.

The celebrity chef revealed on Instagram that regardless of the grades they receive, students will be able to get free pizza at his Street Pizza franchise.

“I could only ever have dreamt of getting an A Level so I want to say congratulations,” he said in the video.

“It has been one of the toughest, most awkward years so whatever you get tomorrow, take it as a positive. No one is going to judge you on what you get tomorrow.”

He continued: "But what I'd like to make a difference with is a pizza. So for all you recipients tomorrow, out of respect for the determination and that patience that you've gone through – pizzas on me!

"Sit and enjoy as many pizzas as you wish all on me to say well done, incredible work and enjoy. Take care."

Ramsay captioned the video on Instagram: “Students… Big day tomorrow A Level #ResultsDay !! If you’re picking up your results tomorrow head down to @gordonramsaystreetpizza for bottomless pizza on us!”

Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza has two locations in London; one by Regent’s Park and one near St Paul’s Cathedral.

Ramsay’s followers thanked him for the announcement, with one fan writing: “Such a lovely thing to do x”.

“This is super sweet of you Gordon!” wrote another.

A-level results are arriving for teenagers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with the government making a last-minute U-turn on how exams are graded this year.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has announced that students will be able to use their results in mock tests to appeal if they are unhappy with the A Level grades they are awarded, and can sit exams in the autumn.

The move comes after unions called on the UK Government to follow Scotland’s lead in scrapping moderated grades after the downgrading of more than 124,000 results was reversed.

This year’s summer exams were cancelled due to Covid-19, and teachers were asked to submit grades they thought each student would have received if they had sat the A-levels.

In March, 500 staff employed at Ramsay’s restaurants were reportedly laid off with a month’s pay.
