Force rhubarb by covering the plants with a large upturned bucket; put a brick on top to keep it in place in gales.
Cut the flower head off the top of amaryllis stems when the last flower fades, then feed with liquid tomato food.
Improve flowering on wisterias by cutting back all shoots to 7.5-10cm/3-4in unless the framework of branches needs extending.
Don?t be tempted to sow seeds of bedding plants yet: wait until the days are longer.
Check paraffin greenhouse heaters every day; if they run out of fuel the greenhouse will fill with black smoke.
If the dead stems were left for the winter, tidy up herbaceous borders before any bulbs start to emerge.
