Gwyneth Paltrow has said that she loves “being a wife” as she discussed her second marriage to producer Brad Falchuk.

The Hollywood star, 46, was married to Coldplay’s Chris Martin from 2003-2014 and wed Falchuk in an intimate ceremony last weekend.

Speaking about the difficult decision to marry for the second time, Paltrow told Marie Claire: “For a while, I thought, I don’t know if I’d ever do it again.

“I have my kids – what’s the point? And then I met this incredible man, who made me think, no, this person is worth making this commitment to. I’m very much the marrying kind. I love being a wife. I love making a home.”

Paltrow went on to describe marriage as “a really beautiful, noble and worthwhile institution, pursuit and endeavour.”

She added: “Because I don’t think you get married and that’s it – I think it’s the beginning. You create this third entity, this third being that you have to nourish and look after.”

Paltrow also credited ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt with “protecting” her against Harvey Weinstein when she was a relatively unknown actress.

The actress alleges that Weinstein made a pass at her in his hotel room while she was in a relationship with Pitt, promoting the A-list actor to confront the producer.

“I am so grateful to Brad, because he leveraged his power and fame to protect me – when I was no one – and he scared Harvey,” she said.

“And if it hadn’t been for him, I don’t know if I’d have gotten fired, or what. But instead, Harvey was like, OK, let’s put it behind us. I think he wanted to keep Brad on side.”

Some 80 women, including prominent actresses, have accused Mr Weinstein of miscoduct ranging from rape to harassment.

Weinstein has "unequivocally denied" all allegations of non-consensual sex.
