Harry Styles took a painful-looking on-stage tumble as One Direction kicked off the North American leg of their tour.

Dragging along his microphone stand and fist-pumping the air at the same time proved to be a disastrous combination for Styles as the band played in Dan Diego on Thursday night.

Fans caught the embarrassing moment on camera as the 21-year-old seemed to trip over the microphone wire during a song, ending up face first on the floor.

Luckily for him, he saw the funny side and started laughing, before jumping back up and carrying on with the performance.

The other boys, who had opted to stand still during the rendition of Through the Dark, carried on with the show, oblivious to their poor bandmate's plight.

Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne have just started the North American leg of their On The Road Again tour, the first without Zayn Malik.

The 22-year-old left the band back in March, halfway through the Asian leg of their tour and has already started recording brand new material as a solo artist.

One Direction made an impressive £1 million each for simply signing up to take part in their Where Are We Now tour, which happened last year.

The former X Factor stars received the huge pay out before tickets even went on sale.

New figures released show that company ODOT (One Direction On Tour), made £6.1 million in one year, during which they performed in numerous cities all over the world from April through to October.
