Hayden Panettiere is expecting a baby girl

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere is expecting her first child with boxer fiancé Wladimir Klitschko, and has announced that they’re due to welcome a baby girl.

Speaking to E! on the red carpet at the EMMY awards last night, the actress said: "I can't wait for her to come out, this little one."

When asked if she was expecting a girl the star added: "I think I just said that, didn't I? Yes, it's a little girl."

Clearly excited for the new arrival, Hayden admitted that she’s already begun shopping for her first child, saying: "I like to shop ... I want to go shopping for my girl. I want to paint the room appropriately."

She also revealed that she and Ukranian fiancé Wladimir are struggling to come up with names that suit both their backgrounds.

She said: "We have to make sure that it is American and Ukrainian all at the same time.”
