Helena Christensen: 'I love hanging out with men. I think my sense of humour is male.'

Helena Christensen has lead a glamorous career on and off the catwalk, but when it comes to maintaining her enviable abs, she likes nothing more than training in a sweaty gym with “real fighters”.

Speaking to Men’s Health's 21 Women You Need In Your Life Right Now special she said: "The gym I box in is a really old, sweaty, dirty boxing gym. Real fighters, no bulls******g.”

Boxing she says, also matches her impulsive personality: “I am the worst with time management – but I am always on time. I get really stressed out if I’m about to be even five minutes late.

Helena also revealed that she likes being one of the lads and listening to their conversations because “it cracks [her] up”.

She said: “I’ve always been a little sarcastic; crass, maybe. I think my sense of humour is male. I love men who are the protectors of their family – partners, nurturers.

Helena is the first model to grace the cover of the male fitness magazine - something she described as an honour.

She said: “It was a great honour to shoot a cover story for Men’s Health. And an even cooler honour to be the first woman on their cover! It makes all the hardcore training and swearing worth it."
