Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton worked their best Patsy and Edina impressions as they revived the Absolutely Fabulous characters for a Celebrity Juice birthday special.

The pair – who completed the look with cigarettes, bouffant blonde hair and an obligatory bottle of booze – were on hand to help Keith Lemon celebrate his 42nd birthday on the ITV2 show.

In a studio kitted out with balloons and streamers, Lemon - who was dressed as X Men star Wolverine - welcomed guests into the party, including Gok Wan who, dressed as Gangnam Style singer Psy, gave the host a lengthy birthday kiss.

Dressed as Batman’s sidekick Robin, show regular Gino D’Acampo – who this series changed his middle name to Sheffield by deed poll – surprised Lemon by unveiling a giant pink cake, from out of which popped a topless older woman.

Also making a guest appearance were rapper Professor Green who donned a yellow suit to revive Jim Carey's character The Mask, and Geordie Shore's Charlotte Crosby who channelled Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

Cotton - who is expecting her second child with husband Jesse Wood - kept fans up-to-date with the Wednesday night celebrations as she posted several pictures of the stars having a drink and goofing around backstage.

The radio DJ also uploaded several snaps of herself and Willoughby getting into their Absolutely Fabulous characters.

Earlier this week Jennifer Saunders revealed the news that the Ab Fab film will be shot later this year with locations including the South of France.

Talking on Loose Women about the much anticipated movie, Saunders said that she had been worried about taking the BBC One comedy to the big screen.

She said: “I think that’s why I didn’t do it for a while. I thought, wouldn’t it be awful if it was awful but now we're all so old, Joanna [Lumley] said to me ‘do it before we die!’ We’re all on the brink.”
