Ant McPartlin has revealed that he is “feeling great” in his first interview since his stint in rehab.

The TV star said that he was “excited” as he joined co-presenter Declan Donnelly in Australia for the new series of I'm A Celebrity, following his battle with alcohol and drug addiction.

“I’m excited to be back, I can’t wait. It’s going to be a good show. I’m feeling great,” he told The Sun as he touched down at the weekend.

“The flight was all right, I had a lot of sleep and me and Dec had a good catch-up.”

Donnelly said it was “brilliant” to be reunited with his best friend, insisting that everything “just slotted back into place”.

“It’s brilliant to be back together, it’s perfect. Everything just slotted back into place. We can’t wait and we’re raring to go. We are really excited,” he said.

“We’ll have the same old shenanigans, but with a few little added twists. We just can’t wait to get in and get going now. We’ve been waiting for ages, it’s been a long summer break so we can’t wait.”

Back in June, the much-loved presenter admitted that he had been battling an addiction to painkillers for the past two years following a knee injury.

The annual series of the ITV reality show is airing two weeks later than its usual start date to allow McPartlin more time to recover.

This year's line-up is rumoured to include Amir Khan, Stanley Johnson and Dennis Wise.
