Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco have spoke of their "wonderful" married life together, on the first anniversary of their wedding.

The couple gave a rare interview shortly after the first anniversary of their marriage at the beginning of this month, which has now been published, in which they told of their happiness together.

The prince said of married life: "Well, I think it's, wonderful. I can't speak for Charlene, but she will be able to answer you. But we're having a wonderful time."

Charlene, a former Olympic swimmer for South Africa, added: "Great. I recommend it."

The royal, who has humble roots, with her father a former photocopier salesman, also said she's not adapted to her status as a princess just yet.

She added: "Yeah, it's great. It's I don't know how to answer that, honestly. What's it like being a princess?"

Albert's mother was actress Grace Kelly, and some have compared her to Princess Charlene, although Albert plays this down.

Speaking to CBS, he said: "Now I think you know every human being is unique. And that's the beauty of the human race. I knew that whoever I choose to marry, that she would be compared to my mother. And I was ready for that. But I think Charlene has her own very wonderful personal qualities to be able to shine."
