Jake Bugg has revealed how he ended up recording a duet with Miley Cyrus’s sister — without ever meeting her.

The British singer, 23, recorded his fourth album in Nashville with producer David Ferguson, a friend of singer Billy Ray Cyrus — father of superstar Miley and her younger sister, 17-year-old Noah.

Bugg said: “When I was back in London, Billy dropped into the studio I had been working in in Nashville and heard the song [Waiting] and really liked it.

“He thought Noah would be perfect for it, and she recorded her parts while she was in LA. I’ve never met her, which is a bit weird but that’s the way it goes nowadays.

“She made it sound much better. When my voice comes in it sounds terrible, but when she’s singing it sounds all right.”

Bugg’s album, Hearts That Strain, is out tomorrow. He plans to support it with an acoustic tour, including a show at The 100 Club in Oxford Street on September 13 in aid of the victims of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

He said: “I have mates who live nearby and I could see it from their window. It was heartbreaking — there are no real words to describe it.”
