Jamie Oliver has hired a night nurse in order to get a good night’s sleep following the birth of his fifth child.

The TV chef, 41, and his wife Jools Oliver were forced to seek a helping hand after a lack of sleep started to affect his career.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Oliver said: "Sleep deprivation makes the most wonderful people just, unreasonable.

"It hit us hard this year, really hard, because you know we've got two teenagers and it's teenagers things, and you've got a six and a seven-year-old as well, and they're up as well."

“For the first time ever I've got a night nurse, and she started a week ago, so five weeks in, so you know, we got battered for five weeks, and I was trying to help out, and do the night feed, and then go and do 15 hours of filming at the end of Southend pier, and that was tough."

Oliver – who also has chidldren Poppy, 14, Daisy, 13, Petal, seven and Buddy, five: "But it is just routine really, routine, and all the classics like colic, and burping and not rushing the baby, and it's hard. Any parent out there knows the drill, I mean they use sleep deprivation as the most incredible form of torture."

His comments come days after Jools was criticised on Instagram for posting a picture which one user claimed put pressure on other mothers.

"I am currently pregnant with my second baby. Every minute of every day I'm scrutinising my weight, pictures like this by naturally slim women do not help," wrote the social media user.

"Shouldn't you be more concerned about bonding with your baby rather than how quickly you fit back into your jeans?"

Jools fired back and told the 'haters' to unfollow her if they don't like her posts and said it is a "total shame" that her picture was turned into a weight issue.
