Jamiroquai are set to release their first new music since 2010 with their comeback album Automaton.

The acid jazz funk group, fronted by Jay Kay, have dropped a teaser clip of a brand new song seven years after they released their last new material.

A 21-second clip was posted on the band’s official Facebook page on Monday night, titled Transmission 001.

“Coming to a planet near you... #AUTOMATON,” the tagline read.

Jamiroquai also announced a series of tour dates on Tuesday morning to coincide with the album release.

They are set to play in Japan and South Korea in May, followed by appearances in Greece, The Netherlands, Italy, Finland and France during the summer.

While the band are yet to announce any UK dates, they are rumoured to be set to sign up to play Glastonbury.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Jamiroquai’s debut single When You Gotta Learn and the 20th anniversary of their breakout smash hit Virtual Insanity.

The video for the 1997 track picked up four awards at the MTV VMAs at the time as well as a Grammy Award.

In 2010 the band released their latest album Rock Dust Light Star, which failed to make an impact on the charts, selling just 34,378 copies.
