Fans have been given a first look at the forthcoming Bourne film, starring Matt Damon.

The brand new trailer, which was released on Thursday morning, shows the A-lister back in action as the CIA assassin after nine years away from the franchise.

Following on from the original Bourne trilogy, which started with The Bourne Identity back in 2002, the new film is simply titled Jason Bourne.

Featuring returning cast including Julia Stiles, the fifth film is directed by Paul Greengrass, who directed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.

The brand new trailer promises an action-packed film, as Bourne finally recovers his memory and resurfaces after years away.

New additions to the cast include Oscar winner Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones.

Damon shot a number of the scenes for the new film in London, causing confusion earlier this year when Woolwich station was used as a set.

A number of streets in the area were shut down so that they could be transformed into Athens as part of the shoot.

Jason Bourne will be released in cinemas on July 29.
