Jason Wingreen, who provided the voice of bounty hunter Boba Fett in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, has died, aged 95.

Wingreen died at his Los Angeles home on Christmas Day his son Ned told the Hollywood Reporter.

Born in Brooklyn on October 9 1920, Wingreen made his film debut in The Bravados in 1958.

The veteran actor has almost 200 credits listed on IMDb and has starred in a number of TV shows including Archie Bunker’s Place in which he played Harry Snowden.

He also appeared in Seinfeld, All in The Family and The Twilight Zone.

Wingreen originally auditioned for the part of Yoda in Empire Strikes Back – which later went to Frank Oz – but was given four lines of dialogue for Boba Fett.

Speaking about the voice role he said: “I think the actual work, aside from the hellos and goodbyes and all that, could have been no more than 10 minutes.”
