Actress Jenny Agutter will be awarded an OBE by the Queen today for her charity work with a range of organisations.

The film star has been supporting bodies that "matter hugely" such as the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Action For Children for many years.

Agutter has featured in a range of movies from sci-fi classic Logan's Run to the comedy-horror film An American Werewolf In London but is best remembered for her role in The Railway Children.

She has recently appeared in the BBC1 hit Call The Midwife.

Two bus workers will be awarded MBEs at the Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony for their quick-thinking and brave actions during last year's London riots.

Kenneth Martin, a night traffic controller for London Buses, helped passengers and bus drivers to safety while Peter Middleton, an area controller for Arriva, directed buses away from the violence and kept services running despite being injured in the disturbances.

During the investiture, Captain James Higginson, of the Parachute Regiment, will be awarded the Military Cross for the courage and bravery he showed while serving in Afghanistan.
