Justin Bieber’s fashion choices very nearly landed him in trouble with the police.

The 25-year-old shared an Instagram Story post in which he recounted how a police officer quizzed him over his Off-White x Nike Air Max 90 trainers.

The sold-out collaboration between the sports label and Off-White founder Virgil Abloh features a plastic zip tie threaded through the laces, a style detail which appeared to have left the officer confused.

“Virgil, my god bro, you’re killing me man!” Bieber said in the video, as he focused the camera on his shoes – and on the offending zip tie.

“I just had a cop come up to me and ask me why I still have the security tag on my shoe. What the?” he continued.

“I had to tell him ‘Bro, it’s just fashion, I dunno.’

“He was like ‘It sure looks like a security tag.’ I was like, ‘Na bro, you can check it out, it looks like it though.’”

The singer then jokingly took Abloh to task for “getting [him] in trouble.”

Earlier this week, Bieber told fans that he would be putting plans for new music on hold in order to address some “deep rooted issues.”

In an emotional Instagram post, the singer told followers: “I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don’t fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be.

“Music is very important to me but nothing comes before my family and my health."
