Kate Hudson has announced the arrival of her baby girl Rani Rose with partner Danny Fujikawa.

The Almost Famous actress shared the happy news on her Instagram, revealing that she gave birth on October 2 and sharing the special meaning behind the infant’s name.

In a series of statements on pink backgrounds, Hudson, 39, said: “We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa.

"Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honour. Everyone is doing well and happy as can be.

"Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back."

Hudson, who announced her pregnancy back in April, did not share a snap of the newborn. She captioned the post “She’s here” with a heart emoji.

Hudson, who is the daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn, also has two sons from previous relationships – Ryder Russell, 14, and Bingham Hawn, seven, who she shares with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.

The star announced her first pregnancy with musician boyfriend Fujikawa back in April in a sweet Instagram video, revealing that she had “never been more sick”.

After apologising for her then-recent social media absence, she explained: “Boomerangs have made me nauseous, Superzoom is an easy way to have my head in the toilet, food instagrams make me queezy and thinking too much about insta stories made me even more exhausted than I already had been.

“We have been trying to keep this pregnancy under the radar for as long as possible but I'm a poppin now!

"And it's too darn challenging to hide, and frankly hiding is more exhausting then just coming out with it!."
