Killing Eve star Jodie Comer has revealed she is trying not to be daunted by her new-found fame in the hit BBC show - and still wants to live at home with her parents.

The actress, 25, plays psychopathic assassin Oksana Astankova opposite Sandra Oh’s MI5 officer Eve Polastri in the critically acclaimed BBC America series.

The drama, from Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, won fans Stateside when it aired there in April, and recently started on BBC1. Such is its success that filming has already begun on the second series.

Comer told ES Magazine: “I live in Liverpool, still at home with my mum and dad. I get the best of both worlds. I’m here now for six months [filming in London], but as soon as that six months is over, there’s nowhere else I want to go other than home ... I just love Liverpool. I love London, but I like to leave.”

Discussing the success of Killing Eve, she said: “It’s a bit of a strange one because it really took off in the States, but I’ve not been there to witness it.

"Sandra lives in LA, so she’s kind of been telling me all about it, how well it’s gone down.”

When asked if she is prepared for the level of stardom that being on such a huge hit can bring, she replied: “I’ve seen it with Sandra, being around Sandra, where it is all the time. And it can be quite intense.

"But I think there’s probably a way of handling it. And also embracing it. What I’ve learnt is to try not to be daunted by everything, take it when it comes.”

Until now, Comer was best-known for playing Kate, the mistress in marital drama Doctor Foster, another huge BBC hit.

She told how Killing Eve has already started opening more doors for her. “I think people are now more willing - and wanting - to meet me, rather than me having to convince people that I’m able to do a role. That’s definitely a little shift that I’ve sensed,” she said.

“But I’m by no means, you know, knocking back the offers. There’s still a lot more work to do.”

Comer began taking acting classes at school in Liverpool before landing her first TV part aged 15.

She said: “I used to do singing, dancing and acting, but as I got older, I realised acting was what I enjoyed.

Plus I grew lanky and completely lost all my rhythm.”
