Kim Kardashian has apologised after she faced an online backlash for defending a make-up artist who has previously used racist language.

Beauty vlogger Jeffree Star criticised Kardashian’s “rough” swatches as she showed off products from her new make-up line.

Star was then slammed for racist comments he had made in the past, leading Kardashian to leap to his defence, telling fans to “get off his a**” and stop “being so petty bringing up things in his past.”

But after heavy criticism the mother-of-two apologised, saying she had “no right to” speak out.

“I really wanted to apologise to you guys and my fans for defending a situation I really didn’t know enough about,” she said in a Snapchat video. “I feel a bit naïve and I do want to really apologise for me feeling I had the right to say ‘get over it’ in a situation that involves racism.”

Kardashian said she was simply trying to rid her Twitter feed of “negativity,” but admitted to misjudging the situation.

She finished: “From the bottom of my heart I’ve always been about positivity. My whole thing was I don’t want to see negativity on my time line so let’s move forward but I realise I was a bit naïve in saying that.

“I wasn’t going against my fans in any way.”

It’s not the first racism storm the famous TV family have been embroiled in this year.

Kendall Jenner faced a backlash when she fronted a Pepsi advert which was accused of trivialising the Black Lives Matter movement by having Jenner instil peace and unity by handing over a can of the fizzy drink to a police officer.
