Lady Gaga was left red-faced after making an embarrassing mistake with her new tattoo.

The pop superstar, 32, admitted to drinking one too many tequilas ahead of getting the new inking which features a musical stave with the notes ‘G-A-G-A’ spelling out her name.

But despite three Brit Awards and nine Grammy Awards to her name, Gaga’s stave had four lines instead of five.

She was quickly made aware of the error and tweeted an image of the updated tattoo which her manager Bobby Campbell also had done. “Musical crisis averted,” she wrote. “Too many tequilas forgot the fifth staff line poor thing. Here’s the real deal #GAGA.”

She added: “As a music theory student I’m appalled, as someone having fun with their friends I’m relieved.”

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, also unveiled a large rose covering her spine as a nod to her Oscar-nominated role in A Star is Born which sees her character Ally sing Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” she posted alongside a picture of her new artwork. “A tattoo toast to ‘la vie en rose’ by the beautiful Winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose...plus I got my name, written in music matching my bestie and manager @bobby_campbell.”

Gaga posted a video from her tattoo session with renowned artist Winter Stone days after celebrating a BAFTA win and a triple Grammy haul last Sunday.

The Pokerface singer was honoured at the BAFTAs for her song Shallow from A Star is Born. She was also nominated for Leading Actress but missed out to Olivia Colman for The Favourite. Her co-star Bradley Cooper also lost out on Leading Actor to Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody as well as Best Director which went to Alfonso Cuaron for Roma.

Cooper has been snubbed entirely from the category ahead of the Academy Awards next week, something he said left him “embarrassed”.
